Review of The Homesman (2014) by Kevin S — 15 Aug 2015
Two stars is being generous, and only for the wonderful cinematography. If you're looking for a smug, sort of post modern feminist, depressing, moral relativist spin on the Western genre, then you may enjoy the movie. But probably not as much, really, as you'll enjoy telling others about how brilliant you found it. As for me, I thought it was a complete waste of brine and money. And hands down the worst effort by TLJ to date.
You know those movies where the trailers manage to show the ONLY good scenes, and the marketing geniuses make it seems that the whole movie is great? That's the Homesman. I was supremely disappointed.
