Review of The Homesman (2014) by Kathleen G — 27 Jan 2019
This is perhaps at once the most beautifully scripted, filmed, and acted story, and also the most disheartening and dispiriting film I've ever seen. A deeply painful and profound story that takes the heart right out of you for the pain, suffering and loss.
If nothing else, we may come away from this with a deepened understanding of what frontier life may have seen and experienced. The darkest stories we didn't know. The film is painfully rendered, and profound.
