Axed by critics when released in 1986, "The Hitcher" still remains a cult favorite among film enthusiasts world wide. On a journey through the desert, Jim Halsey (played by C. Thomas Howell) picks up a hitcher, chillingly portrayed by Rutger Hauer, along the road.
This marks the start of a living nightmare for Halsey and everyone else on the desert highway. The film ultimately comes to a final showdown in the desert - a nervy finale that has the viewer sitting on the edge of the seat.
"The Hitcher" also marks one of the first notable appearances for Jennifer Jason Leigh.
