Review of The Hills Have Eyes (1977) by Luis G — 13 Jun 2012
Though seems pretty dated and acting wise, it isn't the best. This film plays off a very unsetling and awkward tone that remains from start to finish. For those that are looking for a scare, you won't find it here.
But for those who are looking for a film about theme, setting tonality and metaphor, it is a film that delivers. It is a very unique horror film in that respect, but it seems so tacky and I was bitterly disappointed that this film wasn't anything better.
It isn't scary and there are plenty more films that deal with the typical theme of "the main protagonist/s is/are the bad guys after all". Just like at King Kong, the original is far less dated as well :).
