Review of The Great Ziegfeld (1936) by Mark S — 22 Feb 2011
The interesting story of a Broadway producer who got by on gall and gusto and the easy way he had with (nicely) manipulating people. Luise Rainer deserved her Best Actress Oscar here, as far as I can tell.
She was excellent, as was William Powell who starred in the much better "My Man Godfrey" in the same year as this came out. He's excellent, and I need to see more from him, especially some of the acclaimed "Thin Man" series.
