Review of The Good Earth (1937) by Jeff B — 05 Jan 2009
I really enjoyed this one more than I thought it would. At first it's a little weird seeing Paul Muni and Luise Rainer play Chinese characters, but you get used to them. And for 150 minutes, it actually goes by quickly.
The acting is good, I don't mind that Rainer won Best Actress for this. The storm scene near the beginning is well done, as is the finale, which was very impressive. Worth checking out.
