At first glance, this is a horiffically rascist film but much like early work with primarily african american casts, context is important. rainer is quite good and paul muni is excellent. this really is a landmark film that started a great number of asians in non-exaggerated roles that provided a more realistic view of asians.

defientely an important film. it is rather slow in parts though.
