It's undeniable that the performances were incredible in this film, but The Glass Castle is a long, bleak, and depressing melodrama. There's no enjoyment in watching a little over two hours of this family's unusual story especially after the ending leaves you wondering about the movie's objective.
Is it simply a retailing of someone's life or is there a moral to the story that I missed?
