This movie is good, but has one major weak point. It is a great drama about a high school dreamer named Matthew who is played by Emile Hirsch. He meets an ex porn star named Dani played by Elisha Cuthbert and they fall in love.
I love the lovable and hate-able Kelly. He is a porn director who is the definition of cool and takes Matthew under his wing, but then turns, and then seems cool again at the very end. After knowing his dark side, somehow he still is lovable.
This could have been, and still is a great redemption story and somewhat of a big F-U to the porn industry for demented practices. The only problem, it was marketed and in some places tries to be a teen comedy.
It is a drama with comedic undertones, but it strays from that in a lot of scenes. The annoying Eli tried to be the comedic relief as the horny teenager. He had his funny moments, but the character was mostly overkill.
The nerdy Klitz, in my opinion, should have been the only comedic relief because he was settle and likable. All in all, it's still a powerful and fun movie that is highly enjoyable.
