Review of The Gift (2015) by Moviemitch96 — 11 Aug 2015
Joel Edgerton writes, directs, and stars in this intriguing and well-made thriller that for once relies more on psychological elements rather than jump scares. The film does have kind of a slow burn to it, but believe me when I say that the build-up is worth it.
As for the cast, Edgerton gives an eerie and unpredictable performance. Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall deliver solid performances as well. Overall, I'd say that it's worth a view, especially if you want a film that doesn't try too hard to scare you like most horror/thrillers nowadays, but instead approaches you in a psychological and unexpected way.
