Review of The Gate (1987) by Trevor N — 27 Oct 2008
Even though it has it's moments of absolute oddness (a biting demon-child materializes through a a closet wall and gets stabbed in the eye by a barbie doll leg) and a genuine feeling of the crew not knowing what they were doing, it's still boring as hell most of the time.
The plot makes little sense, as a young Stephen Dorff finds a gate to hell from his backyard and his ridiculous-looking friend happens to have a satanic record that contains some convenient chants to open the forementioned portal. Yeah.
