Review of The Gate (1987) by Danielle S — 22 Jul 2007
A classic in the eighties genre of horror. First, the pre-CGI special effects are pretty amazing, including, but not limited to, the intensely creepy "minions" which were stunning in the late eighties and remain so today.
Add to that the casting of actual teens and preteens, and then allow them to behave more or less as actual teens and preteens would under the circumstances, then augment with some really nice subtle touches.
