Review of The Fox and the Hound (1981) by Derek H — 27 Jan 2009
An underrated Disney movie, with decent messages and possibly one of the saddest Disney movies around. The movie fell in the weird Disney period (between the big hits of late Sixties & early Seventies but before the resurgence in the late Eighties & Nineties) that houses other Disney movies like The Black Cauldron and Oliver & Company.
It doesn't have any particularly catchy tunes, and the only drawback to the story is that I wish the filmmakers had spent more time establishing the friendship when they were young (it feels like in the movie that they hung out for a couple of days and were bound for life).
