Review of The Four Feathers (2002) by Marco P — 07 Jul 2009
A film that never really puts it all together. Quality period and location shooting, the acting was adequate if unspectacular. The script itself is what's most unspectacular. The odds of Heath Ledger's character going virtually unnoticed as the only AngloSaxon amongst a contingent of African forced labor is almost gallingly implausible.
As is his capture, escape, and reconsile with his Kate Hudson. The extent to which his character fails to grow or change when the movie is all said and done is put front and center with his return and acceptance of Hudson's character back as his true love.
