Review of The Fountain (2006) by Shaun B — 18 May 2014
A film that will divide most audiences. It's a very nice take on finding acceptance with death but I can see how others would view this as pretentious, slow and muddled...but for me it hits with real emotion and the three interwoven tales from different periods of time all relating to a tree of life and the cycle of love and death along with an excellent score by Kronos Quartet and Mogwai along with spectacular special effects sequences that are organic in nature rather than relying on CGI.
..it's almost a perfect movie outside the obvious maudlin art house qualities that drag it down somewhat.
