Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Dan L — 12 Nov 2017
Unbelievably well written and well acted. Realistic. Told from the perspective of a young child about her her single, white, young, poor, tattooed, free-spirited mother who takes odd jobs, including sex work to stay afloat week to week.
Is she the world's best mother? No. Does she take care of her daughter as best she can? Very much so. This movie shows her struggle through her daughter's perspective. It's got funny moments and deeply sad ones.
It rewards the attentive viewer by disclosing its story through hints and inference rather than overt exposition. I'd watch this again in a heartbeat.
