Review of Welcome to the Dollhouse (1996) by Rachel H — 30 Oct 2010

This movie was just plain weird. The art factor is pretty high and I can respect it, but this film is definitely an acquired taste that I just don't have.

Heather Matarazzo shines in the role of Dawn Weiner, but I just don't like or relate to her character. In fact, I don't like or relate to any of these characters. Everyone in this movie is either a jackass or just plain weird and unrelatable.

I can respect the artistic and cinematic achievements that this movie makes, but I can't respect it's poor script and unlikeable characters. That's pretty much all I have to say about this movie. All in all, great artsy factor, but terrible script and unlikable characters.
