Review of The Expendables (2000) by P M — 30 Mar 2014
Finally watched The Expendables...the one that started off the popular series. This one was written and directed by Stallone. In the starring role, Sly was unintelligible for the 1st 10 minutes...mumbling stuff.
I then slowly started to learn Sly's mumbling. The movie has a high body count, as expected. The story is basic and character development is minimal. The climatic battle is wild yet rather stupid.
Jet Li was wasted. Statham was OK. I liked Mickey Rourke's character the best, though it was a relatively minor role. Hope the next one's are better.
