Review of Crazy Heart (2009) by P M — 13 Jul 2013
Great performance by Jeff Bridges as an alcoholic, has-been country singer is complemented by catchy songs and Maggie Gyllenhaal's role as the woman who (along with her son) serves as the catalyst for Bridges' Bad Blake to turn his life around.
Small roles by Colin Farrell as Bad Blake's protege-turned-megastar and Robert Duvall as Bad's friend only add to this movie. A familiar tale comes alive with Bridges, company, and the songs showing uncommon heart that causes it to rise well above many better-marketed and -known films in the past few years.
