I have to agree w/ Kimber, for it's time "The Entity" really knew how to scare the pants (no pun intended) off of ppl and make ppl afriad w/o really getting gory or even bloody violence (but yes rape itself is a violent act).

..but still, they don't have to show everything and suggestion is really more powerful than just laying it all out there. Here's the thing though, I've actually read the book 2 or 3 times, and read the screenplay twice so I rly know this story.

I have to say, the film and book both share the fact that family is an important element in dealing w/ a trama. I like how I really feel empathy for all the characters, except sometimes Dr. Sniderman get's on my nerves, but I think he had good intentions.

It seems to be than Dr. Sniderman may mirror DeFelitta's own empathy and interests, since DeFelitta actually did real research for his book, and he was the one who supposedly interviewed her. Doesn't anyone find it odd that not much info on the author can hardly be found, he only produced a limited number of pub.

books like 3 or 4 I think, but he was well know for screenplays, he certainly knows alot about camera positioning, I love some of the shots. Esp. when Carla is looking into the mirror, right out of twilight zone kind of panning, in the screenplay the camera was suppose to pitch in and out, and I guess you can see the symbolism of it equated w/ sex during the rape scene, that was a clever idea but they never used it.

Or the keys, yeah...when she is going to pick up her keys, and we see the keys through the mirror, wow that was so neat. One thing that did perturb me, in the book this 'thing' does talk and quite frequently, but in the movie all we get is that one line, "Welcome home C***" (I'm not trying to be offensive here, it's in the book).

So, if they make a remake (it probably could never be as good as this one, but I'd still watch it anyway b/c I like DeFelitta's work, he's brilliant and humane (or so he seems anyway). Also, one big thing.

..the 2 little guys are mentioned in the movie, his 'helpers' but in the book they really take on a more active role, the ghost pregancy is also a very important issue that really interested me.

You can't buy a movie this intelligent! Not sure if I believe it really happened, if it did then it's a travesty, and if it didn't, then it's great fiction.
