Review of The Enforcer (1976) by Rameshwar I — 23 Mar 2016
The Enforcer opens with San Francisco under siege by a vaguely-defined cabal of hippie terrorists. That's exactly the sort of job for Inspector Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood), but the need for politicians to meet gender quotas results in him being saddled with an inexperienced lady cop (Tyne Daly).
This movie goes through the expected paces of its genre before it climaxes with an exciting shootout on Alcatraz island that finds its hero wielding a rocket launcher. The Enforcer is a predictable action movie, but it's made with solid craftsmanship and it largely accomplishes what it's trying to do.
