Review of The Duellists (1977) by Michael C — 05 Feb 2008
Ridley Scott's very first feature length movie that shows you Scott can make a decent film that doesn't rely sole on special effects. It's a particularly well done period piece (I dislike period pieces for the most part.
) with great acting and directing from a script based on a Joseph Conrad story. The film is compelling and the cinematography is excellent, done in subdued earth tones that really give the viewer a sense of the landscape of war in the Crimean peninsula.
