Review of In the Bedroom (2001) by Dominic J — 04 Aug 2009
This film had a lot of content that the filmmakers wanted to get across, yet they relayed that info in a slow and almost an emotionless way. When the events that had a powerful, high interest level message behind them were happening the slow scenes that preceded kind of took the fire from under them because at that point my impulse level was extremely low.
Once the event that the story is centered around takes place around the middle of the movie, the film takes a dive and the pace slows down tremendously. I understood what was going on and the message that Todd Field was conveying, my interest was just too low to really care though. Until the end when that level of intensity picked up again. A level a little higher than where it was around the middle of the film when the major event of the movie happens.
Not the mid-point of the story, literally around the middle of the movie's run time.
