Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Will D — 15 Mar 2009
This one frequently sent chills down the back of my neck (particularly during the musical sequences). Irene Jacob presents a sort of sobered-up Amelie type character, in two different and parallel incarnations.
The film is rich and glossy which distances from Kieslowski's ultra-realist roots (something which is effortlessly accomplished). I can see something of where the idea for Mulholland Drive might have arisen now.
I recommend this.
