Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Matt S — 29 May 2010
Hauntingly beautiful, Kieslowski's mediation on duality and human connectivity is one of his most beautiful and abstract films. Irene Jacob won Best Actress at Cannes for her performances as Veronique and Weronika. Shot through a litany of golden/green/red filters, we float through the lives of two young women from different countries who only pass through each other's lives for a brief moment, but are forever linked.
An unforgettable classic that, almost twenty years later, still feels fresh and inspiring.
