Review of The Double (2014) by Matty S — 26 Aug 2014
I was bummed to discover that Ayoade has made a movie that is simply a watered-down version of several other films about isolation, bureaucracy, dystopia and identity. Mainly, he has "crafted" a lower-budget and lower-impact take on Brazil.
And, I found it hard to feel any empathy for the sad sack character Jessie Eisenberg is forced to play. While there is talent here, there is absolutely nothing hasn't been done before and much better.
