Review of The Volga Boatman (1926) by Matt K — 22 Jun 2012
William Boyd (same guy as Hopalong Cassidy) plays THE VOLGA BOATMAN (1926), a member of the Red Party who falls in love with Princess Vera, on the cusp of the Russian Revolution. Although DeMille was extremely anti-communist, this movie's sympathies lay with the people oppressed under the Tsarists.
One of my very favorite silent films - very good.
