4 Stars out of 5. I was very intrigued by this film. I'm aware that it is one of 3 films (not your average trilogy though). There is one told from the guy's perspective, another by the girl's perspective, and finally this third film, which combines the previous two into a jointed "both perspectives" version.

I will say that I enjoyed this movie very much. Enough to make me want to see the other two versions, which apparently enhances the overall story and movie experience.

I thought the characters were gripping and it didn't play out as I anticipated (which isn't a bad thing). It had a slower dramatic tone for a 2 hour film but it kept me engaged. I wish there had been more elaboration upon the characters past experiences, leading up to where the main narrative is taking place. But that didn't stop me from feeling something for the two leads. It won't be everyone's cup of tea but a hit a few right notes for me. The actors all involved were impeccable and especially (no surprise) Viola Davis.

I will say the ending left some things up to interpretation, which is always 50/50 for me on if I like that or not. That's the main area where I wish it had been more clear. But maybe after seeing the other 2 films, i'll have a better understanding and more appreciation for the bigger picture. But overall, I liked it and will enjoy watching it again in the future.
