Review of The Devils (1971) by Miss.gory R — 08 May 2008
One of my very absolute favorites of all time...Based on the true events (Which the majority of Russells films are, ie GOTHIC, SALOMES LAST DANCE....) in this wonderful period piece (filmed by Derek Jarman) that is not only exquisite in its whole atmos and design, but the actors are top notch, and the story, being very close to the actual events, including magnificent performances by Redgrave, as the disgruntled, hunchbacked Nun, to Reed as Grandier.
..The story of Loudon is quite interesting, and brought to life in an accurate spectacle.
