Review of The Devils (1971) by Matthew S — 20 May 2015
Provocative, perverse, profound, controversial, angry and blunt adaptation of Aldous Huxley's The Devils. Interestingly, it has never been more relevant. Profoundly disturbing and unforgettable. It is Vanessa Redgrave's most interesting performance.
Let's hope that one day Warner Bros will wise up and allow this film to be fully restored and uncut. In a unique way, this is a cinematic masterpiece that has been relegated to "cult' and 'camp' unjustly.
