Much better than I expected. Much better than it needed to be. Wonderful lead performance. Yes, it's more mutant mayhem, but no costumes and much more characterization. What surprised me most here is the story is approximately empathy science fiction.
The lead does surprising things with empathy. I think another movie too humanistic, too sensitive, too much about Feelings for the average critic. Go see it.
