Review of The Crucible (1996) by Elizabeth L — 15 Mar 2009
I'd never studied the play but I knew enough of the historical background that I knew where the story was headed. It's not really my kind of film but I like Daniel Day Lewis and Joan Allen, so I figured why not.
Am I glad I did but not for the reason I went in. Paul Scofield is amazing. All he does is talk in a calm, serious voice and he's downright scary, evil and intense. It was worth seeing just for him.
