Review of The Crucible (1996) by Lindsay W — 30 Jan 2011
The movie is set up as though the Salem witch trials were based on the accusations of one woman scorned by her lover, trying to get him back... which is just ridiculous if one knows the facts. It would have been much better with a greater impact if they had focused more on reasonable explanations for the witch hunt and the social insanity that ravaged the village.
Great acting by Day-Lewis but Ryder was annoying.
