Having much in common with Romero's "Dead" films, The Crazies doesn't primarily focus on the epidemic plaguing the central characters, but how they respond - or their failure to respond - to the extreme situation that binds them all together.
Lots of similarities with Cronenberg's Shivers (including the insanely hot Lynn Lowry).
