Review of The Crazies (1973) by Brendon C — 27 Feb 2010
A pretty dry film even for its time. Romero just tries to cram so much in this movie that it loses its main focus. I stand against the masses who call it a "great" film. It may be a film by George A.
Romero, but the name doesn't make a film. There are some pretty well done scenes, but again most of the film is showcasing the military and NBC suited people who really could serve a greater purpose other than to run around and deliver flat dialogue.
Overall, the story lacks depth, something lost in the whole mix of trying to follow the military's actions as well as following the group of average citizens. It would have been much more effective if Romero dropped one storyline and expanded on it.
