Review of The Counterfeiters (2007) by Jose M — 12 Sep 2009
A harrowing tale of survival in the midst of the oppression of a Nazi Concentration camp, "The Counterfeiters" is a powerful film that is highly engrossing, and at times, simply mesmerizing. It is a film that shows the psychological and physical tortures of a Nazi concentration camp in a very vivid manner.
The performances by Karl Markovics and August Diehl were so emotive that they transcended the language barrier and stood for what they were, excellent portrayals of men who were beaten down and spat upon.
A great Holocaust film that is definitely worthy of its Oscar win for best foreign language film of 2007.
