Review of The Conformist (1971) by Jarett B — 25 Jun 2007
Bertolucci's masterpiece, combining noir, surrealism, politics, and psychology, filmed in the ultra-cool fashion of the French New-Wave. Incredible contrast of close and long shots, with some of the boldest/bravest lighting in any film I've seen.
A deep and harrowing tale not only about Fascism, but about the human psyche as well.
