Review of The Conformist (1971) by Simon T — 02 Feb 2016
Like most of Bertolucci's films a baffling and pretentious slog. The story itself is intriguing: a hitman wrestling with his conscience when he is instructed to kill his former professor. But Bertolucci doesn't trust the drama and has to fracture and over-choreograph everything so he can remain the great auteur.
