Review of The Conformist (1971) by Robert K — 22 Nov 2007
An incredible mix of deep, intelligent writing, perceptive direction, and some of the greatest cinematography ever put on film. Believe it or not, the story of a decadent, middling Italian who becomes a tool for the Italian fascists resonates today.
Bill O'Reilly should watch this film. Bertolucci is a cinematic giant based on this film alone. It's about the destructive force of conformity.
