Review of The Color of Paradise (1999) by Chetan V — 21 Aug 2007
A delightful, emotive yet tragic story of a blind boy named Mohammed who seeks the world's beauty and love through the feel of his fingers yet cannot win the affections of his cold, icy father. The acting is convincing, sweet and sincere.
The cinematography and settings add dimensions and depths of beauty and splendor to this jewel of a tale. The very imagery somewhat convinces us that Mohammed is already in the Paradise that he seeks.
I strongly recommend this film to any viewer who appreciates breathtaking imagery, beautiful yet simple stories and, importantly, a true glimpse of the inherent beauty and majesty of Persian/Iranian culture rather than the soley politicaly charged information fed by the US media to the public.
