Review of Heathers (1989) by Chetan V — 31 Aug 2009
This film is the real deal. Heathers started it all as far as intelligent teen films (for me that is).
An enjoyable little black satire on high school life and teen angst.
This is basically the "postmodern Mean Girls".
JD is an especially enjoyable character. His "Tyler Durden"-esque support to Veronica Sawyer adds to his trademark charisma and likeability as a radical underground prophet of change against a corrupt system, one whose ideals we can willingly flirt with, only to realize that they become as dangerous as what they seek to replace.
