Review of The Collector (1965) by Kirana L — 19 Jul 2005
[color=white]Young Terrence Stamp is superb as a meek bank teller who abducts scene-stealer Samantha Eggar and keeps her locked up in his cellar. This adaptation of John Fowles' novel is a few notches above your usual angst-ridden kidnapper film and generates a few moments of sheer, Hitchcockian suspense; it's a lot like a more low-key version of Michael Powell's "Peeping Tom.
