Review of The Collector (1965) by Allan C — 18 Oct 2013
William Wyler directed this creepy little film about disturbed butterfly collector Terence Stamp, who decides to expand his collection to include the unwilling Samantha Eggar. Stamp oozes creepy menace and Eggar portrays a smart character in a frightening situation, as opposed to simply playing a helpless victim.
The film get's a bit stagy and talky in parts, but that's a fairly minor annoyance for an otherwise engrossing film. There's also a nice Maurice Jarre score. Well worth watching, particularly for great performances by Stamp and particularly Eggar.
