Review of The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) by Ian R — 12 Sep 2013
This movie tried to hard to make Riddick a mainstream, big budget, sci-fi blockbuster. It was nice to see the character in action again, as he is an enjoyable character. However, the setting around the story was a bit to big and the rest of the characters a bit flat.
Pitch Black was so grounded and Chronicles of Riddick is so grandiose. However, there were some good points. There was some development with Riddick's humanity through his feelings towards Imam and Jack, who he saved in Pitch Black.
I think there was some good action in it, though the action is far from the nice, grounded action in Pitch Black. I also did like the very ending; it was a nice interesting note to end on. All in all, Chronicles of Riddick is not great.
