Review of Truth or Consequences, N.M. (1997) by J K — 29 Dec 2009
First off, the title is the most impressive thing about this movie. But Vincent Gallo is no leading man. He looks like the love child Woody Harrelson and Willem Dafoe, thank God, never had and he speaks like Mike Tyson. Kiefer Sutherland is so over the top in his bad guy role that I couldn't wait for him to die. Kim Dickens, remember her? Yeah, no one does. As for Martin Sheen in a lackluster role, he must have thought he was doing a comedy. Rod Steiger phones in his cameo. This is another drug deal gone bad, let's go on the lam for some reason and spend the whole movie driving around going nowhere, changing vehicles, blah-blah-blah. Seeing as this movie wasn't even filmed in New Mexico and that the climax takes place in some isolated house out in the desert, what the hell is up with the title.
Look out Intercourse, Pennsylvania.
