Review of The Cell (2000) by Kelsey K — 22 Mar 2012
The Cell is an almost guilty pleasure. The visuals are stunning, the ambiance, and the design of the movie really set the scene, and the constant switch between real time crime thriller and other worldly empowerment keeps a good balance for the film.
With a decent plot driven by a well crafted film, Tarsem Singh shows, for his film debut, that he has much to offer to the industry. The main fault of this movie is the miscasts. Lopez and Vaughn were not the right actors for the job, however, D'Onofrio stole the show, especially in the second half.
The Cell seems almost underrated and under appreciated.
