Review of The Business of Being Born (2008) by Teri D — 28 Jan 2009
An informative and entertaining look at pregnancy and labor issues as a part of women's health. This is a must see for every woman as it reminds us that we have the power of our own bodies. Doctors have intention of good but medicine is ruled by social influences and a lot of harm has been done with the greatest of purposes.
This film looks at how practices through the years have not been always beneficial and there are alternative methods to the "standard medical" childbirth. As with any documentary, it is still important to remain open-minded about both sides, but this film does a wonderful job of introducing both men and women to the most intimate issue that many leave in the hands of a doctor.
