Review of The Business of Being Born (2008) by Julia W — 13 Aug 2010
I really enjoyed this film since I learned more about something I had very little knowledge of than any other documentary I watched recently. As a woman it was disheartening to think that I didn't have a clue about what I might have to squeeze through my beaver dam in the future.
Not only was this film extremely informative (and of course slightly biased) it gives great insight around the huge problem surrounding midwives and nonsensical hospital births. The only problem I had with this movie was the very self-reflexive ending regarding its director and the fuzzy message it seemed to be sending me after all the megaphone talk about home births.
