Review of The Business of Being Born (2008) by Lauren M — 30 Jun 2010
I'm already not a fan of drugs and IVs, but to see this movie and be presented with evidence of what is really going on in these hospitals... And the insurance agencies... Extremely informing. True the second half of the film focused more on the women and their personal cases, but I think it was done to further the message.
Just seeing their comfort compared to the usual fear was incredibly helpful. None of the women they featured seemed like they were dying or in the horrendous amount of pain mothers seem to be in on the shows on TLC (obviously, if what we're told is true).
I wouldn't call it beautiful, but it definitely seemed normal.
