A Moment She Couldn't Resist. An Obsession He Can't Control.
Well I've always known that a naked Jenifer Lopez can't save a movie so yeah.
The Boy Next Door stars Jenifer Lopez as an English teacher, huh good start. Who finds herself attracted to her new neighbor a twenty year old played by Ryan Guzman and as the trailer suggests she does sleep with him, but the next day she's like no I can't be with you because I was weak and vulnerable last night and I need to make my marriage with my lousy cheating ex-husband to work. Ugh then why did you let last night happen? Because I was weak, I mean have you seen your abs? One- and I was suppose to be strong in that situation your Jenifer fracking Lopez have you seen your tits lately? It wasn't your fault I was the adult I should have known better. What are you talking about? I'm twenty I'm a legal adult where both consenting adults, your sending very mixed messages here! I have to leave, I'm sorry. Leave all you want, I'm stocking you until I get a piece of that ass again, seriously your Jenifer Lopez I'll kill your cheating husband if I have too but lets not tempt fate.
This film is very awful, so like I said Jenifer Lopez sleeps with her new neighbor who turns out to be one of her students, and he becomes incredibly obsessed with her, well can you blame the guy? And he starts getting violent, turns her own son against her, attacks the cheating asshole husband, blah ,blah, blah. This film makes no effort at being original or stand out in any way. The Boy Next Door sets up way too many subplots and it never even bothers to wrap up. Lopez is separate from her husband goes no where, her fascination with famous poets goes no where, the sub plot with the boys dying uncle goes no where, the sub plot with her son and the hot blonde from the hardware store goes no where( which is sad cause I'm a guy who goes for hot blondes) her stocker having sex with the hot blonde from the hardware store goes no where, the only thing that does go somewhere if you can call it that is the main story. This film gets very old very fast. Not to mention, okay she's an adult and he's twenty so he's an adult, she can call the cops but oh wait he has a video that recorded them, yeah but that is happen stance she didn't know about that till much later in the movie. There were so many points before that where she should have just had him arrested. Even if they did find out this boy is not under age, the film goes out of its way to tell us he's twenty years old so legally she can't even be tried as a sex offender even if they did find out. I'm serious all freaking logic is tossed out the window in this movie. We wouldn't have a film if she had just called the cops, watched anaconda and filed a restraining order against this guy. But no she had to loly gag and jerk this guy around and she just pissed him off and made him more violent. Is 911 lost to everyone in this movie?
The acting in this film is pretty one note Jenifer Lopez is fine I don't think she's a bad actress my problem is just that I always see her in bad movies such Monster In Law, Enough and of course Gigli. The problem is like all the other actors in this movie is that she has nothing to work with, Kristin Chenoweth plays the Vice Principle in this movie who also happens to be her best friend and she is so freaking annoying I mean every time she starts talking I think my ears are bleeding. Ryan Guzman despite having nothing to work with in this lazy piece of trash they call a script, also gets a few creepy moments here or there. Again like Lopez not that great but he's trying to make the terrible script work and for what he did it was fine.
Overall The Boy Next Door is pretty bad, it's lazy, has a horrendous script and has actors that have the potential to do good but with this just fail, I'm giving The Boy Next Door a one out of five.
